Capturing Your Love One Frame at a Time

Hi! I'm Cannie, pronounced like can + ee. I am an INTJ. Enneagram 9. My love language is quality time. All of which are aspects of my personality that shape who I am.

Coming from a significantly large family – and when I say large, I truly mean enormous – I have always held a strong appreciation for connection. Whether it was attending family weddings, becoming that fun auntie, or gathering around to flip through old family albums, my heart finds joy in these shared moments. Leafing through images of beautiful wedding gowns and vibrant blooms, reminiscing about treasured family vacations, and sharing hearty laughs over timeless childhood snapshots remain among my fondest family pastimes.

MY PHILOSOPHY

As a portrait and wedding photographer, my passion lies in capturing those cherished moments that live on through photographs. The ability to evoke emotions and preserve memories through my lens is a privilege I hold dear. Looking back at pictures from significant life events like family weddings or vacations never fails to stir the heart. My goal is to create those timeless images for you, capturing your love in each frame, so you can hold onto the beauty of your special moments forever.

My Journey

  • 2001

    Santa (aka my Dad) gave me my first camera - my parents pretended to be Santa for as long as I can remember. I loved taking my camera everywhere, getting the film developed, and picking them up when they were ready!

  • 2012

    I picked back up my hobby. I purchased a vintage Minolta film camera and taught myself how to shoot on film all over again.

  • 2014-2018

    The grad school life took over and my main form of documenting memories was on my iPhone and edited everything on VSCO.

  • 2018

    I moved to Virginia for pharmacy residency. This career move introduced me to life on the East Coast and opened my eyes to a whole different perspective.

  • 2019-2023

    I started to pick up my Minolta again, but still continued to use my phone as my main camera.

    I was featured in various DMV photography communities for photos taken and edited on my phone (like WHAT?!).

  • 2024

    I bought a Fujifilm XT-4 and it was the best decision to kick off 2024. Six months later, Cannie Captures was created and here we are now!

  • I grew up without an oven so as soon as I went to college, I bought a handmixer off of Ebay for $10 and it changed my life.

  • I am grounded, organized, and immensely detail oriented and… I thrive in organized chaos.

  • I have been in the pharmacy industry since 2012. It was my way of giving back to my community, one patient at a time.

  • I am a sucker for horizontal time and binge through trash TV, documentaries, and any movie/TV series.
